Defining pattens in Photoshop can be very useful, if you want to use patterns of your own. Defining patterns is actually quite easy and doesn’t take long. I have found patterns to be great space fillers mainly for website backgrounds, banners or even buttons..

This is probably one of the easiest ways to make any 3d object using photoshop. The trick is to use SketchUp to make the basic object that you want, then using photoshop you can style it with some gradients, or what ever you want. This way of making 3d objects with photoshop allows you to customize the object’s faces and make complex shapes easily (using sketchup).

You might be thinking, gradients just for banners? Yes just for banners, but i suppose you could make them work for other things. I made 13 colours for this pack, 13 is a bit of a controversial number, but hopefully it won’t affect your quality of work when you use these gradients, heh. These banner gradients should work on Photoshop CS and above, they were made using Photoshop CS2. If you have a suggestion, colour request or general comment, comment below, i always reply. I have seen some of your other websites and am impressed with a lot of the work. I too am a web designer and would love to help out on this blog as an author, giving people handy design tips, tutorials, help etc. The website I have been creating and editing at the moment is http://designcrave.com which is a place for free logos, banners, templates. Nice work on the launch of this blog, I will try to help out as much as possible.

Just to help some people out, here is a great (easy to understand) video by the guys over at Common Craft. This is how i found out how RSS works, i hope you can benefit from it too.

You can subscribe to DesignPear for regular updates on new blog entries too, the feed(subscribe link) is in the side bar and footer (the big RSS logo).

Well after a couple of days and some grueling design work, DesignPear was created. I’m not exactly sure what i am going to write about, but it will be around the area of web design and everything that goes with it. I’ll have some free downloads here too, maybe some web designs and some Photoshop things. Yes i did make a category just for DesignPear news, i think it’ll come in handy for telling you guys about updates to the site and if I’m not going to post for a period of time. Hope you enjoy the site :). Read the rest of this entry »
